Genius published an interesting story today, providing some predictions for the 2021 Grammy Awards. What makes the list especially intriguing is that the predictions are based on data accumulated by Genius through their massive platform.
We looked at Genius data to see what it tells us about 2021’s Grammy nominees. Albums are evaluated based on the peak month of their average monthly Genius pageviews across all songs on the project, songs by their total Genius pageviews, and artists by the peak monthly pageviews of all their songs across the eligibility period (October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020).
According to the data, Genius predicts Roddy Ricch will be a big winner with three awards for “The Box” including Song of the Year, Best Melodic Rap Performances, and Best Rap Song. They’re predicting A Written Testimony by Jay Electronica as the Best Rap Album, and the late Pop Smoke is expected to win in the Best Rap Performance category for his hit “Dior.”
