Canadian recording artist Dave Mac has a knack for making every move feel like a declaration of independence. His latest singles, “Alone” and “Show Me Love,” hit from completely different angles, but together they trace the story of a musician carving out his own lane in the industry.
“Alone” was filmed in the back of a five-ton box truck and across Mac’s own estate — a lo-fi, intimate concept that echoes the track’s raw energy. Self-directed and produced through his new company, Mac Media Films, the single doubles as a statement of creative control. The company itself was born just months ago during a trip to Mexico, where Dave filmed his song “Mexico,” now climbing toward 60,000 YouTube views. If “Alone” is proof of concept, then Mac Media is shaping up to be more than just a side hustle.
On the flip side, “Show Me Love” taps nostalgia with a fresh license of Robyn’s iconic ‘90s hit. Directed once again by Mac, the single arrives with rural-based cinematic flair, dropping Dave into neon-lit visuals that feel tailor-made for streaming culture.
If that weren’t enough, Dave Mac continues to offer his independent marking services and recently penned a jingle for GoTrax, an e-bike company. The venture serves as another commercial placement and another new creative avenue. In March 2023, we interviewed Mac about his company, Lil Boost, a grassroots marketing firm which caters to anyone looking to make an impact with their promotions, regardless of the industry.
