CapCityHipHop and Foundation Media have teamed up for a new initiative elevating distribution for BIPOC artists. They’ve also released the new “Phonez Off” single and video by Canadian artist AK-SLIM.

CapCityHipHop, an innovative platform dedicated to nurturing Ottawa’s vibrant hip-hop culture, is excited to team up with Foundation Media, a distinguished media and marketing company specializing in distribution and label services. This strategic collaboration aims to revolutionize distribution opportunities for emerging BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) artists, not only within Ottawa but also across Canada.

The highly anticipated release of “Phonez Off,” by Tanzanian artist based in Western Canada, AK-SLIM, signifies a landmark moment in this collaboration. Merging creative forces with the accomplished Canadian producer DexxxMusic, AK-SLIM’s musical prowess takes center stage, underscoring CapCityHipHop’s commitment to delivering exceptional content. The single is now available on all major streaming platforms here, and the supporting MyNameFrench-directed music video already has over 30K views on YouTube.

Since its inception in 2012, CapCityHipHop has consistently championed local talent and shared compelling narratives within the Ottawa community. The introduction of the debut single “Did It Myself” in June 2022, featuring the dynamic collaboration between AK-SLIM from Calgary and JAioftheRise from Ottawa, set the stage for a series of forthcoming releases. This track has garnered over 53K views on YouTube, providing a glimpse into the exciting releases ahead from CapCityHipHop.

Establishing itself as a go-to hub for hip-hop enthusiasts in Ottawa, CapCityHipHop has solidified its status as a prominent entertainment entity within the National Capital Region. Recognized as one of the city’s longest-running music platforms, CapCityHipHop has made an indelible mark by spotlighting local talent and sharing resonant stories that deeply connect with the community.

Foundation Media, boasting nearly two decades of experience, is a versatile media and marketing powerhouse specializing in distribution and label services. This aligns harmoniously with CapCityHipHop’s dedication to empowering artists through resources and opportunities for growth.

“We’re thrilled to announce this groundbreaking collaboration, a pivotal moment for CapCityHipHop,” expressed Nathan “Thrilla” Gravelle, owner/founder at CapCityHipHop.

“Teaming up with Foundation Media will amplify distribution avenues for BIPOC artists, and ‘Phonez Off’ is a testament to our shared vision of musical innovation.”

The distribution process is a collaborative effort. Foundation Media and CapCityHipHop work together to prepare artists’ music and content for distribution across platforms like streaming services, digital stores, and social media. This includes optimizing metadata, delivering content, and strategically planning releases for visibility and engagement.
