Bad Addiction: Saukrates Returns December 6 With New Album

Toronto hip-hop legend Saukrates returns with his 12-track album Bad Addiction, featuring collaborations with Redman, Masta Ace, Lindo P, and more, set to drop December 6, 2024.

Toronto hip-hop pioneer Saukrates is set to release his highly anticipated album, Bad Addiction, on December 6, 2024. Released through Frostbyte under exclusive license to The SRG-ILS Group, this 12-song opus promises to showcase Saukrates’ lyrical prowess and timeless production skills.

The album features a stellar lineup of collaborators, including rap heavyweights Redman and Masta Ace, dancehall maestro Lindo P, and rising stars ROAM and Shakari Nyte. Fans have been able to preview two new songs through the Apple Music pre-release—”Oh So Cold” featuring Lindo P and “My Piece”—while “Comin’ Up,” and the nostalgic “My Pager Burning Up (Easide of Thangs)” with Redman and Masta Ace have already hit DSPs.

Saukrates, an award-winning artist and producer, reemerged in 2024 after a years-long hiatus from digital streaming platforms, marking his triumphant return with renewed energy and creativity. Bad Addiction combines recordings from his prolific past with fresh perspectives, creating a rich tapestry of sound. “It’s like a time capsule,” Saukrates explained in a recent interview, reflecting the depth of his decades-spanning career. The songs were all recorded over a five year period, from 1999 to 2004.

With SRG-ILS being distributed globally by Virgin Music, Bad Addiction is poised to introduce a new generation to Saukrates’ groundbreaking artistry while satisfying longtime fans. With tracks that range from soulful introspection to head-nodding bangers, the album further cements Saukrates’ position as a cornerstone of Canadian hip-hop.

Stream the album starting December 6 on all major platforms, and don’t miss the chance to hear one of Toronto’s most influential voices continue to shape the hip-hop landscape. For now, check out “Comin’ Up” and “My Pager Burning Up (Easide of Thangs)” below.
