Trap Lore Ross on how “Eminem’s Mom Sued Him For $10m”

One of the most successful Trap Lore Ross videos to date is his quick (by today’s standards) look at how Eminem or more specifically how “Eminem’s Mom Sued Him For $10m” back in 1999.

One of the most successful Trap Lore Ross videos to date is his quick (by today’s standards) look at how Eminem or more specifically how “Eminem’s Mom Sued Him For $10m” back in 1999.

According to Anthony Bozza’s 2003 book, Whatever You Say I Am: The Life and Times of Eminem, Eminem’s mother sued him for $10 million USD in 1999, claiming he was slandering her on his official studio album debut, The Slim Shady LP. Litigation on the case concluded in 2001, and resulted in an award of $1,600 for Debbie Mather’s damages.

According to an article by The Things in February 2020:

Back in 1999, Deborah filed a lawsuit against her son, demanding $10 million dollars for her name being slandered in his songs, and his interviews, in addition to falsely accusing her of abusing illegal substances. Deborah denied these accusations, as well as insisted that Eminem’s upbringing was fine. She explained in an interview with Inside Edition: “He was spoiled rotten. Anything he wanted, I made sure that I’d take my last dime and get it for him. I mean he was my only child for fourteen years.”

You can find some of the songs where Eminem disses his mom below, along with the heartfelt “Headlights” which serves as an apology for the things he said in those songs. “Headlights,” featuring Fun lead singer Nate Ruess, was featured on the 2013 album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

“‘Cause to this day we remain estranged, and I hate it though
‘Cause you ain’t even get to witness your grandbabies grow
But I’m sorry, Momma, for ‘Cleanin’ Out My Closet’
At the time I was angry, rightfully? Maybe so”

Eminem’s latest drop is the “Killer (Remix)” featuring Jack Harlow and Cordae which already has over 20 million streams on just Spotify alone.
