Tara Lord teams up with Dub J & Roney for “Praying (Remix)” video

After racking up over 100K streams with her monumental June release, “Praying,” Toronto rapper Tara Lord is back with a massive new remix. Powered by Canadian producer Dub J—and expected to appear on his next producer album—the “Praying (Remix)” features an appearance by fellow Toronto rapper, Roney.

Lord turned heads back in March with her single “Overthinking,” but really shook the scene with the release of her super catchy and emotionally jarring, “Praying.” Both songs were released through Top Secret Records, lead by her father RP Rap aka Top Secret (of the Sunshine Sound Crew).

“Tara is an incredible talent,” said Dub J during a recent call.

“I’ve had the pleasure of spending a lot of time in the studio with her to record a bunch of records. She’s a beast in the studio. Her writing and recording process is very seasoned. It takes a lot to get me excited. I’m definitely excited for everyone to hear what we have coming!”

Having released a music video for “Praying” just a couple of weeks ago, Lord and Dub J opted to take the remix a step further by heading to BC for a new cut. The remix video features some of the original footage directed by Knemesis blended with new footage captured by West Coast-based Colton Davis. Roney was already out West for the shoot, and has been working with Colton Davis quite a bit in recent months including the latest, “Over the Top Freestyle” as well as the video for “Coffin.”

In other Tara Lord news, the young star recently connected with Yung Tory for a new collaboration expected in the near future. Dub J, the producer also behind that record, provided us with a shot of the pair from a recent studio session.

The “Praying (Remix)” is HipHopCanada’s Song of the Day. The track is currently sitting at #3 on the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart and #21 iTunes All Genres chart. You can find the single on Spotify, and various other digital streaming platforms via Q It Up Records. You can also find the song on our official Spotify playlist, Canadian Fresh
