Peter Jackson Drops New Single “MVP” as He Returns to the Scene
For over a decade, Canadian rap artist and 9-0-Nickel Entertainment CEO Peter Jackson has defined hustle in Canada’s hip-hop landscape. His latest single, “MVP,” released October 25, 2024, is more than just a song; it’s a statement of resilience and renewed ambition. The track, available on Spotify and iTunes, is Jackson’s first drop since “Orthodox,” which featured Brenda Mullen. The track not only fuels anticipation but also reconnects fans with PJ’s characteristic drive and creativity.
In recent years, Jackson has had several sports-related releases, including his wildly successful “We The North” single during a Toronto Raptors playoff run and last year’s Toronto Maple Leafs anthem, “Beleaf.” To celebrate “MVP,” he gave fans a shot at winning Leafs tickets through a contest: It’s very simple! Purchase my new single ‘MVP’ on iTunes now! Post it, & tag me! I will select a winner this Sunday night! You & a guest will have great seats to a Toronto Maple Leafs game.

In a deeply personal Instagram post on October 9, PJ opened up about his journey back to music: For the last two years, I have found it very difficult to write and record new music. After losing my father, I made five or six songs I really liked and released. That’s it. I finally feel like I’m back in the right headspace to make good music again. I’ve got an album on the way and a lot of unreleased music to push out. I got everything I ever wanted doing what I love. Don’t get me wrong. I’m happy, but I felt guilty being happy after losing my pops. I finally feel at peace and genuinely happy. I’m definitely in the right mind frame to release music again.
“MVP” sets the stage for what’s next in Jackson’s journey, a career that has already seen collaborations with the likes of D-Block, Fetty Wap, Trey Songz, and more. While fans are eager for an “MVP” video, Jackson’s last video “Numb,” featuring Caleigh Barker and Claire Virginia, has already garnered over 172K views. With an album and more singles on the way, it’s safe to say that Jackson is officially back.
