New LUV Concert Series to showcase a diverse lineup of Canadian talent starting April 20

As famously stated by acclaimed Black poet Maya Angelou: “Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.” It’s a sentiment needed more than ever as the world becomes increasingly consumed by tragedy and grief, and seemingly more tolerant of hate and war.

Enter the LUV Concert Series—an exclusive new experience designed to focus on spreading love and showcasing artistic excellence in BIPOC communities, eclipsing genres for a unique virtual concert created with high production value.

Presented by Toronto-based More Music Management Ltd.—in partnership with HipHopCanada Digital Inc.—the LUV Concert Series presents eight “she/her” and “they/them” identifying artists from across Canada through a pre-recorded live performance of their music, and other digital content that offers some insight into their essence as individuals.

“The LUV Concert Series was created because independent Black recording artists lack access to media here in Canada,” explained series Executive Producer Beverly Moore.

“It is beyond time for our talents to be showcased in front of, as well as behind, the cameras. We really are at the beginning of some exciting times. We have new digital tools, and we have talented creators here in Canada, so now is the time to curate commerce and truly participate and build a new inclusive industry.”

The LUV Concert Series will make its debut on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at hiphopcanada.com/luv with an episode featuring Toronto’s Nadia Stone. A new episode will be released every Sunday and Wednesday afterwards up until the finale.

The rest of the inaugural LUV Concert Series lineup includes Tia Bank$ on April 24, Benita on April 27, DijahSB on May 1, Liyah on May 4, LolaBunz on May 8, and Naya Ali on May 11. The last artist in the lineup, previous 3x JUNO-nominee Melanie Durrant, will be presented on May 18 just after the JUNO Week 2022 festivities.

Along with ensuring a high quality of entertainment, the LUV Concert Series was also committed to achieving greater equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in each step of the creative process.

“I can say this is the first time in my working years that I have ever worked with such a diverse team,” said Moore.

“…including myself, there were 22 vs. 7, from under-represented communities.”

The LUV Concert Series will begin broadcasting on April 20, 2022 via hiphopcanada.com/luv. Tune in and help spread the love!
