Ice Cube isn’t mincing words when it comes to his thoughts on the way his 3-on-3 basketball league BIG3 is being treated.
In an Oct. 15 tweet, Cube replied to former NBA player and current BIG3 coach Stephen Jackson to acknowledge his support of BIG3, and his admiration for Cube’s hustle in the sports biz.
I AIN’T GOING TO LIE!!! @icecube DOING HIS THING BEING A SPORTS MANAGER!!! I MOST DEFINITELY SUPPORT HIM!!! #SportsManagement 💯✊🏿😎🏀🏈⚾️⚽️”
During his response, Cube also took the time to claim that the NBA and ESPN were doing everything they could to prevent BIG3 from getting ahead.
“Appreciate you @DaTrillStak5. We definitely need everybody’s support. The @nba and @espn are doing everything in their powers to ignore or destroy @thebig3 👊”
BIG3 was founded in 2017 and just recently wrapped up its fifth season (2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic). Trilogy, the team coached by Jackson, won their third trophy this past August after defeating the Nancy Lieberman-coached Power.
Just recently, Cube announced that BIG3 had been officially certified as the first Black-owned sports league.
