A month after the passing of hip-hop legend Earl “DMX” Simmons, we’ve got the release date for the rapper’s first posthumous album, Exodus. The new project, featuring Swizz Beatz as the Executive Producer, will be the Dark Man’s eighth studio album.
“My brother X was one of the most pure and rare souls I’ve ever met,” Swizz said in a prepared statement.
“He lived his life dedicated to his family and music. Most of all, he was generous with his giving and loved his fans beyond measure. This album, X couldn’t wait for his fans all around the world to hear and show just how much he valued each and every single person that has supported him unconditionally.”
Exodus is the given name of DMX’s youngest son, Exodus Simmons. DMX also had a tattoo of the Bible passage Exodus 1:7 on the base of his neck.
Based on interviews X gave before he passed, the project is expected to feature appearances by Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Alicia Keys, Benny the Butcher, Conway the Machine, Westside Gunn, Usher, and the late Pop Smoke.
Along with announcing the May 28th release date, X’s team released the album artwork, shot by frequent X collaborator, Jonathan Mannion.
Stay tuned for Exodus.
