Aug. 16-17: Northern Power Summit returns to Toronto with expert-driven panels and artist showcase

The annual Northern Power Summit is less than a week away, kicking off this coming Friday, Aug. 16 in Toronto.

Now a two day event, NPS is taking place in two different venues including The Supermarket on Friday, and the Artscape Sandbox, on Saturday. Both days run from roughly noon until 6 p.m., and both days have a highly intriguing schedules aimed at both entertaining and informing.

Northern Power Summit is definitely the event to be at if you’re an aspiring artist or looking to step into the music industry.

Day 1, inside The Supermarket at 268 Augusta Ave., kicks off with a welcome message and quickly shifts to the first engagement from one of the summit’s main speakers and representatives, D.O. Gibson. there’ll be a panels on how to get an album funded, how musicians take care of themselves in terms of mental and physical health, as well as a long list of dope speakers and panelists including Phoenix Pagliacci, Chris Deep Henderson, Kathryn Hummel, Preetam Sengupta, Chris Atwell, D’Eve Archer, John Walberg, Wanz, Petey Paragon, and more. That all goes down before the artist showcase kicks off at 4 p.m. The lineup includes: Taigenz, EPDMC, Oxala, Arlo Maverick, NightStillYoung, Mighty Rhino, Lola, Mickey O’Brien, M.O. Littles, ethemadassin, JENNA Nation, and Mo Moshiri.

Day 2, inside the Artscape Sandbox at 301 Adelaide St., features more great panel topics, speakers, performers, as well as keynote addresses by Toronto entertainment lawyer Sander Shalinsky, and Grammy-winning musician Mike “Wanz” Wansley. Additional speakers and panelists include Nicolas Bouchard, Kaya Pino, Andy Hawke, Towa Beer, Chris Deep Henderson, David Click Cox, Charlie Wall Andrews, John Walberg, Petey Paragon, Fresh Kils, and Liana White. The day’s performers include Dijah Payne, Yung LP, John Muirhead, Ammoye, and The Takeover.
