Kresnt releases “Free Afghanistan” single & video in support of humanitarian crisis

Earlier today, Afghan-Canadian hip-hop artist Kresnt released a new single in support of Afghanistan, and the millions of displaced people now facing a huge humanitarian crisis. Humanitarian needs for millions of Afghans across the country are near an all-time high, and the situation appears to be getting worse by the day.

As such, Kresnt took it upon himself to launch his new “Free Afghanistan” single and to lend his support to a GoFundMe campaign launched by Children Without Borders and Watan Project. At the time of this post being published, the campaign had already raised $335,866 raised of the posted $350,000 goal.

“Due to the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan, hundreds and thousands of families in every province have been displaced, leaving their hard earned living and taking shelters in schools/tents. Most of these families do not have the means to survive.” – Children Without Borders and Watan Project

Along with the new release, Kresnt recently helped lead a protest in Vancouver to raise awareness about the ongoing emergency impacting his family and friends, and countrymen. The protest can be seen on the single’s artwork, with Kresnt standing amongst the large crowd. Kresnt was featured on CBC’s On The Coast with Gloria Macarenko, where he spoke about the protest’s importance and “about the escape of western nations [from Afghanistan] as many allies look on without hope.”

The “Free Afghanistan” single follows the release of the supporting video which was released on August 24th. You can find “#FreeAfghanistan on Apple Music, Spotify, and various other digital streaming platforms via The Lunar Cycle. Click here to support the GoFundMe campaign.
