TLDR: 2Pac murder suspect Keefe D, accused of orchestrating the rapper’s 1996 killing, maintains his innocence in a recent interview with ABC News.
2Pac Murder Suspect Keefe D Speaks Out from Jail
Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the man accused of masterminding the 1996 murder of 2Pac, recently spoke out from jail in a bombshell interview with ABC News. The former South Side Compton Crips member denies any involvement, calling the state’s case baseless. “They don’t have nothing,” Keefe D declared, dismissing the charges as thin and unsubstantiated.
“They don’t have nothing. And they know they don’t have nothing. They can’t even place me out here. They don’t have no gun, no car, no Keefe D, no nothing.” – Keefe D on ABC News
In the interview, Keefe D also pointed the blame at former Death Row Records head of security Reggie Wright Jr., claiming Wright orchestrated the hit. As reported by Newsbreak, Keefe D stated, “It’s heartbreaking they keep dragging in my name. I didn’t have anything to do with that.” Wright has denied the accusations.
The allegations have resurfaced after Keefe D’s 2019 memoir, Compton Street Legend, in which he allegedly admitted to being involved in Pac’s murder. However, he now claims that he was paid to say he was in the car that killed Tupac and that the book’s author, Yusuf Jah, exaggerated the details. “I’ve never read the book,” he insisted. “I just gave him details of my life. And he went and did his little investigation and wrote the book on his own.”
Keefe D’s statements have reignited public interest in the case, which remains one of hip-hop’s most infamous unsolved murders. With Keefe D’s trial approaching, the hip-hop community is watching closely to see whether the state’s evidence holds up or if Keefe D’s claims of a frame job will stick.
