Both tracks are taken from his forthcoming album, KINGMAKER, due for release in 2025.
Back with renewed laser focus, the huge new single “Play This At My Funeral” sees rap icon Xzibit in full rebirth mode. Set to a heavy and cinematic hip-hop beat, he delivers bar upon bar of honest self-reflection of the past, while relishing in the present and what the future holds. The music video, also out on 11th October, sees “X” fighting against apocalyptic conditions, which speaks to the grind throughout his life, whilst ultimately evading the struggle, escaping into a land of clarity and peace.
This is the first single from X’s eighth album, KINGMAKER, the culmination of his genre-leading experience and 12 years of writing since his 2012 studio album, Napalm. Executive produced by himself, Xzibit has brought his wealth of experience as one of the most important voices in hip-hop evidently to light, with mature and insightful writing showing considerable growth as an artist and a human while remaining true to the artist he has always been.
A household name, with millions of records sold, Xzibit is widely known for his work with Dr Dre in the 90s, who produced X’s platinum solo album Restless, expanding Xzibit’s fanbase far beyond the underground. It spawned the unforgettable 2001 single “X,” a worldwide smash hit synonymous with the MC. He’s also widely known within the culture as the face of MTV’s Pimp My Ride, as well as his illustrious big screen appearances and cultural TV staples such as Family Guy, CSI Miami, Hawaii 5-0, MTV Cribs and American Dad.
The album’s second single, “Been A Long Time,” is set for release on October 25. Be sure to keep an eye out for that, and the hugely-anticipated KINGMAKER album, as we witness the return of a certified hip-hop giant.
