Drake bought 2Pac’s crown ring for record $1 million at Sotheby’s auction

Drake is now the proud owner of 2Pac’s custom designed 14 karat yellow gold, ruby, and 5,00 carats diamond crown ring after winning it in an auction.

Drake continues to make headlines with the lead up to his next album, For All The Dogs.

The self-proclaimed 2Pac fan is now the proud owner of Pac’s self-designed custom gold, diamond, and ruby crown ring, after winning it for a record breaking $1,016,000 USD at Sotheby’s auction.

On the the Sotheby’s auction listing, the ring is described as having approximately 5.00 carats of diamonds, 14 karat yellow gold, stamped, weighing approximately 16 DWTs and size 8. It’s inscribed with “Pac & Dada, 1996,” in honour of Pac’s engagement to Kidada Jones. It’s directly from the personal collection of Yaasmyn Fula. The ring was originally expected to bring in $200K-$300K but is now the most expensive hip-hop artifact known to date. This auction was part of Sotheby’s hip-hop series celebrating the genre’s 50th anniversary.

This is a ring that Tupac designed,” said Cassandra Hatton, Senior Vice President, Global Head of Science & Pop Culture at Sotheby’s. “He had just come out of a period of incarceration in 1996. While he was locked up, he read The Prince, by Machiavelli, became really obsessed with this book.”

Drake made the purchase during his It’s All A Blur Tour with 21 Savage, where he’s been promising the near arrival of his new album. A couple of days ago, Drake doubled down on it being out soon, telling his audience: “I have an album dropping for you in, like, two weeks or some shit.”. Stay tuned For All The Dogs.

On Friday, Drake removed any doubt that he had purchased the ring, after taking a picture of it on his hand to promote the new Travis Scott album he’s featured on. “MELTDOWN” also happens to include the line, “I pull out a million and stare at the shit,” but drawing that connection could be a reach.
