Pretend: Ottawa’s Shubz heads to Miami for latest single & video

Earlier this year, budding Canadian artist Shubz released his fifth official single since making his debut in 2022. The BabyGotBeatz-produced “Pretend” has pulled in over 83K streams on just Spotify alone since premiering on January 26, 2024, and the accompanying music video—shot in Miami by SIP Entertainment—has over 86K views.

“Pretend is about reminding us of our true purpose, urging not to get overwhelmed by insignificant problems,” Shubz said of the release.

“I definitely stepped out of the box on this project as I tried to portray a different reality to listeners through the lyrics, the music video, and the vocal melodic changes throughout the record. I feel that due to the nature of our current world, we are forced to prioritize our careers and lifestyle over spending time with our loved ones and creating a lasting legacy. This project resonates with me on a personal level unlike any of the records I have previously released.”

“Pretend” follows Shubz’s single “Gold Roses” which has racked up over 44K Spotify streams to date.

You can find “Pretend” on Apple Music, Spotify, and various other digital streaming platforms via AV Records.
