On Friday, March 22, The Ends Promotions will be hosting a special anniversary screening of the 2002 film NARC, starring Jason Patric and the late great Ray Liotta.
Along with celebrating the film, the event will also focus on supporting NARC actor and Toronto rapper Bishop Brigante, who was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and peritoneal cancer in October 2023.
Taking place at Revue Cinema (400 Roncesvalles Avenue) in Toronto, the event will feature a Q&A session with Patric and the film’s director, Joe Carnahan.
“Through ticket sales and generous donations, we aim to provide financial assistance to Bishop Brigante and his family as they navigate the expenses associated with his medical treatment,” said a press release about the March 22 screening.
“Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful impact in their lives.”
Along with NARC, writer and director Joe Carnahan is best known for The A-Team (2010), Blood, Guts, Bullets and Octane (1998), Smokin’ Aces (2006), and more.
Jason Patric, who is also a producer, is known for The Lost Boys (1987), The Losers (2010), Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997) and more.
“I want you to know about a special event we’re having on March 22,” said Patric in a short video he recorded from Central Park in NYC.
“Myself and Joe Carnahan, director of NARC, are coming up there to Toronto and we are going to have a special screening of NARC to support our buddy Bishop, who’s going through some hard times. But he’s a fighter, just like everybody in that movie. It’s going to be a special night, a Q&A, a great print of the film, some music and a lot of excitement; and show our love and appreciation for Bishop, and all artists that are up there.”
He continued: “All great movies obviously have great scenes that you remember. And the scene where Ray and I are trashing Bishop’s apartment… the dialogue, how many times we get to slap him in his face… all of that is indelible and makes the movie what it is. So let’s show him our love and support, have a good time, crack a few beers, and celebrate a modern classic, NARC. I’ll see you guys soon.”
NARC is about the efforts of two detectives in search of the murderer of an undercover police officer. During their investigation, the pair engage in unethical behavior and uncover dark secrets that challenge their already fragile relationship.
