Vancouver is small, and MANILA GREY talk about it on “Friends of Friends”

MANILA GREY

When we’re asked about who’s making a strong come-up on the West Coast, MANILA GREY is undoubtedly the first name that comes to mind.

They’ve solidified themselves as a frontrunner in Vancouver’s hip-hop community throughout 2017, and the duo shows no signs of stopping with the release of their latest single, “Friends of Friends.” The single features a commanding vocal sample, and pulsating 808s, and signature MANILA GREY synth-work produced by 1z collective producer, azel north.

The artists speak about how it’s inevitable to run into someone that you know on any given night out in their hometown city. You can hear the duo live this summer at BREAKOUT Festival. “Friends of Friends” keeps up with their dark, futuristic, and sonic aesthetic while incorporating inspiration from anime and cult film movie scores with the overall boundaries of asian hip-hop music.

Stream “Friends of Friends” below, and follow Manila Grey on Twitter.
