Chicago’s HotBlock JMoe Returns With After Darkness Album

TLDR: Chicago’s HotBlock JMoe, who released the popular “9 x Outta 10” with Canadian star Tory Lanez in 2022, is back with his new album.

Chicago recording artist HotBlock JMoe has released his new project, After Darkness, today via Velcro Records, alongside the video for his standout single, “Demons.” After Darkness traces HotBlock JMoe’s return to clarity and purpose as he navigates an industry where business often eclipses creativity. Anchored by melody-driven production from Chicago mainstays Oz On The Track and Chase Davis, the project reveals his range, depth, and emotional honesty. With no guest appearances, After Darkness stands as a deeply personal statement, revealing the full scope of JMoe’s vulnerability and focus.

On “Demons,” HotBlock JMoe captures one of the project’s most vulnerable moments as he navigates inner turmoil over a soulful, sample-driven Oz On The Track backdrop. Released alongside the project, the new visual finds JMoe on a couch across from a therapist in a stark, brightly lit room, unpacking his thoughts in a way that mirrors the song’s raw, unguarded tone.

On another standout, “Murder On My Mind,” JMoe unpacks buried pain and fractured trust, confronting the weight of justice and consequence. As the project closes, “Second Chance” turns inward, grappling with life’s highs and lows, faith, and the uncertainty that comes with seeking direction.

Last week, HotBlock JMoe teased After Darkness with the single, “Play Time Over,” produced by SlickDa3rd and Honchoo00. Framed by the line “I put all this shit on the line this time… took a little time, but I can see clearly now everything I wanted,” the “Play Time Over” single marks JMoe’s return following a period of recalibration.

Already known for breakout records with G Herbo, Polo G, and Memphis rising star Fresco Trey, this new era captures the moment when chasing ends and decisions take shape.
