Detroit’s genre-mutating trio HiTech — comprised of King Milo, Milf Melly, and 47Chops — just fired off another explosive statement with their latest single, “TAKE YO PANTIES OFF”, featuring the honey-slick vocals of UK futurist George Riley.
Released via Loma Vista Recordings, the track hits during the crew’s HONEYPAQQ TOUR, a tight run of dates building the hype behind their forthcoming HONEYPAQQ VOL. 1 mixtape. That momentum reached new highs this past weekend when HiTech closed out the Sonora stage at Coachella with a set that Pitchfork called “one of the weekend’s two best sets.” Their sound? A feverish mutation of Detroit rap, ghetto house, and brain-rattling bass that defies categorization and obliterates the dancefloor.
“TAKE YO PANTIES OFF” is paired with a deliriously surreal video directed by IGoByCy, styled as an infomercial for a product called HiTech Vision — a device that unlocks your deepest carnal cravings. Wild, woozy, and weird in the best way, the clip oozes post-Internet satire while keeping the funk fully intact.
While the trio’s biggest splash to date remains the high-voltage “SPANK!” video (123K views and climbing), it was their Zelooperz-assisted heater “SHADOWREALM” that first put heads on notice last fall. Criminally under-viewed at just over 20K views, it showcased their penchant for chaos, charisma, and basslines that melt subwoofers.
There’s no word yet on when HONEYPAQQ VOL. 1 or the full HONEYPAQQ World Tour will drop, but with singles like this, HiTech’s reign as Detroit’s most mind-bending export is already underway.
